About N-TISE

The network began at the Indigenous Futurisms conference in Flensburg in 2022 on the initiative of Mathilde Roza (Radboud University), with the aim to create a scholarly community to address the unique challenges of teaching Indigenous Studies within a European context. The network’s name reflects a desire to find inspiration in a shared commitment to Indigenous Studies and hopes to engage scholars from both inside and outside Europe.

After several online meetings organized by Mathilde and her Radboud team, N-TISE now organizes its first workshop, where we will come together in a hybrid format to connect and share insights on teaching Indigenous Studies. This event will provide a platform to discuss our network’s goals, including developing a critical understanding of teaching Indigenous Studies in Europe and addressing the challenges and opportunities involved. We will also explore ways to support each other through sharing resources, creating a listserv for collaboration, and discussing funding opportunities. We look forward to your participation and the valuable conversations that will arise!
